The Salesforce Summer ‘24 release is here, and it’s a significant one! There’s a focus on AI, Flows, and enhancing setup tools, aimed at improving the configuration experience for Salesforce instances across the board. Depending on your instance, you’ll be upgraded on one of the following dates.
May 17th
June 7th
June 14th
If you want to find out exactly which weekend your Salesforce instance will be upgraded, head over to Salesforce Trust and click on ‘Maintenance’. You’ll need to know which instance your org is running on so to find out, go to your Setup menu and click on Company Information.
If you’d like a full run-through of the release, check out this Salesforce Help article for the breakdown. Here are some of the top improvements from the Summer ’24 release.
Set component visibility on tabs to show relevant tabs at the right time
Now, we have the ability to apply conditional visibility filtering on tabs. This allows us to display only the relevant tabs to different users. Users have highly requested this feature on IdeaExchange for some time. Its final release will lead to much cleaner interfaces and a better overall experience for everyone!
Automate permission access and revocation using User Access Policies
This is another big quality-of-life upgrade for admins everywhere. User Access Policies eliminate manual user management tasks by allowing you to automatically revoke or assign permission set groups, public groups, licenses and more to users based on criteria you can define. You can also define the order these policies trigger, and use policies to mass migrate licenses. Previously this automation had to be done through a flow, so expect to see user access policies become a common occurrence in any medium to large Salesforce implementation.
Get help for formula syntax issues
No more spending hours trying to figure out what the correct amount of brackets are for your complex formula! Einstein for Formulas can now be used to provide recommendations to fix any errors with your formula for you with the click of a button, helping educate newcomers in formula syntax while enhancing productivity for more experienced admins.
Enhanced Automation Lightning Application
In this release, admins and users with assigned permissions can now view and monitor Flows using the new Automation Lighting app. This app allows you to define list views for Flows, track errored Flows, and search for Flows by name or description. You can also create Flows directly from this screen. In Process Automation Settings, enable this page for it to become visible.
Better User Access Summaries
A new ‘View User Summary’ button on the user record opens up a new world of useful information – listing all a user’s public groups, user and object permissions, and more in one place. Previously admins were jumping between places in Setup to find this information. This is a huge quality-of-life improvement for troubleshooting access issues.
Add rich text headers in App Builder
Enhance your lightning page layouts with enhanced rich text components. Applying different headers to text also makes the component readable via a screen reader.
‘Freeze Users’ and ‘Monitor Login’
In this release comes the ability to allow users to freeze users or monitor their logins. This is a more granular approach compared to the previous method, where assigning ‘manage users’ access often granted individuals more access than necessary, going against the Salesforce security principle of providing the least privilege required.
